LOCI DISH

I have been trying to reach my friend who is the administrative assistant to one of the vice presidents of scheduling at NBC. Lo and behold the sweet woman called me last night. SO here's a little of the inside dish for LOCI.

This is in my language no Television inside Lingo she used at me. Apparently there was a HUGE meeting of the powers that be in Los Angeles between NBC and all its affiliates. Ignoring the other stations I'm concentrating on what she said about USA.

All their shows but LOCI got the automatic 5% raise and signed quickly. Monk of course was Tony wanting to move on so he agreed to final season now he's done.

The greedy bastards of the PTB have taken months to work this out.

This business with LOCI is all about the bottom line of course. LOCI made USA therefore NBC stockholders the most money for a scripted drama or comedy on USA, so they did not want to cancel it. However, where the other USA stars make at the most $200,000 an episode and most much less, Vincent & Kate were making around $350,000 an episode plus Vince took a percent of the show last season in lieu of a raise. Goldblum pulled fair ratings at $175,000 an episode. So the decision was made to slash the stars salaries and make more money for the stockholders while keeping the shows numbers up. More money is paid by advertisers for new LOCI episode than any other new episode shows.

There were several proposals made, presented to the stars and rejected by brass by the stars or by Dick Wolf.

Kate and Vincent take a half pay cut--rejected.

Goren is killed and the circumstance cause Alex and Ross to quit.--rejected

All three killed in bomb blast or shoot out--rejected.

Let Kate go and Vince stay without a partner--he rejected.

Vince disappears like Logan. Kate stays as Jeff's partner--she rejected.

So they hashed and rehashed and finally came up with keeping status quo for the March half of season. 3 Stars leaving then -- writers to work out. Goren to leave where he can come back an make guest appearances. HOW that's for the writers to figure out.

This way they hold on to Vincent in the event Goldblum bombs and the show tanks they will have Vincent to bring the numbers back.

Vince gets a percent of the show to hold him to a loose contract.

So there you have it. We should have Bobby, Alex and Ross for the first episodes and then Bobby as a special guest star during the last half.

Vincent has supposedly given a verbal agreement to this. NOTHING has been signed. Not even Goldblum.

She got to meet him in NYC. She said he was unbelievably sexy and charming AND THAT VOICE. Said when he talks to you he stares deep into your eyes and your knees turn to jelly. He kissed her hand. Such a gentleman. She says she's in love with him and she's only 26.

Well I guess we will wait and see NBC's PTB seem to believe movie star Jeff Goldblum will pick up the gauntlet and keep LOCI as a hit for USA. We'll see.

Will you watch the TV guide for episodes where Vincent is Special Guest Star?

This makes me feel even more that we have to make them know that the fans leave with Vincent.

Yeah, make more money for the stockholders ... what else.
God, that makes me SICK!!

Thanks a lot for sharing the info, Basric.

I don't want to lose him, but I STILL hope Vincent tells them to shove it where the sun don't shine. How DARE they ask him to 'guest' on his own show!! Seems even USA think the show will tank without him, so they want him as a 'safety net' - well f**k 'em.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I've been over to usa and left some polite, but strongly worded feedback, but I don't suppose it will make much difference...it did make me feel marginally better though

I emailed USA from their site, as Val suggested. I ALSO emailed the director of network publicity at USA

Please let them know how you feel!!!

Thanks for all the info! Much appreciated.

I agree! All the more reason for us to let USA know how we feel! Deluge them with messages until they are buried in them!!

Thanks and bless you for the info. Okay people, let's tell NBC how we feel about their incredibly moronic decision.

Thanks for sharing.
I'm a little bit stunned right now.

And I agree - we gotta tell them who we want to see on the show - lets bury them in e-mails!!

Wow, that's some very interesting inside news. I left feedback for USA last night saying if Vincent walks, WE walk. Then let them watch the show sink like a stone.

He's so gracious. He doesn't deserve this treatment AT ALL. He is so better than 'the powers that be'. It burns me that they are willing to let him go, sort of, but want to use him if the show's rating start to tank. What a slap in the face. He MADE that show what it is. I worked in TV production and it's just so cut throat and competitive. They chew you up and spit you out and then move onto the next 'flavor of the month'. Small wonder I quit.

It's so outrageous! I can't believe the USA/NBC stockholders are so avaricious and stupids... (well, sadly I actually can) They already killed the show and I refuse to watch its agony. After Goren & Eames departure, I'm out.

(BTW I really envy that girl. a few minutes with VDO and he kissed her hand... THUD!)

Basric, I meant to ask,(but I was so angry and upset at the time I forgot!) how did you meet the 26 year old lady with the job and the exquisite taste in men?!

Diane She & I went to Vanderbilt University, I for my masters in Nursing she in business. We were roommates for 2 years she got an internship with NBC in NYC that led to a job. The guy she worked for was promoted and promoted again. Took her with him each time. No name because I don't want her to get into trouble for talking out of school.

Like I said, your friend has GREAT taste in men ;0)

Thank you for sharing the info.
I have left my opinion at the USA address, not sure it will do any good. The network is going to ruin a good thing...especially if they are thinking with their wallets, because they lose this show and THESE wonderful actors...then their channel goes down the drain for so many viewers...how's that for their bottom line??

I had to add...the "kissing the hand thing" made me think like a school girl would..not sure that I would EVER wash the hand again!
LOL

In this meeting did anyone realize the magnitude of their decision to phase out Vincent & Kate. Silly fools. Vincent is CI no ifs, ands or buts.

So sorry to hear that they could not reach a consensus to keep D'Onofrio and Erbe. My husband and I have enjoyed watching them since the series came out. The "B" teams are just not quite the same - and the writing is not as good either for those episodes I have to say. My husband refuses to watch the show anymore unless Goren and Eames are starring. Seems like a foolish decision for LOCI as a drop in popularity must affect advertising revenue.

Vince is a great character and makes the show more interesting. He gets a strong reaction from everyone (either love or hate) but that helps with the ratings. I think letting him go is a big mistake.
